Community work together to tackle local issues
Police in Middlewich and Holmes Chapel have praised the
community for working together to solve local issues.
In Holmes Chapel a drugs warrant was carried
out at the home of a 21-year-old local man following information
from the community.
During the raid police found a significant amount of what is
thought to be cannabis matter. The man was
arrested and later released on bail pending further
inquiries.
PCSO
Cheryl Smith said:
We do not have a drugs problem in Holmes Chapel but we acted on
information from the community to carry out this warrant. I would
encourage anyone who has information on crime to contact us. As
this warrant shows, we do value local information and use it in
investigations.

In
Middlewich, the community also played their part
in helping to get an alleyway shut off. The alleyway between Beech
Street and West Street near the town’s main Tesco store had been
the focus of anti-social behaviour, underage
drinking and littering.
Local police used information and reports from residents to work
with the local council and other agencies to have a gating order
put on the alleyway.
PCSO
Steven Wood said:
The young people involved did not realise the impact
they were having on local residents but despite being
advised on several occasions about their behaviour, they continued
to gather in the alleyway. Regular patrols were carried out but we
found we needed something more perment to keep them out . Together
with other agencies we had the alley gates put in to stop any
access.
