Two men charged following collision in Macclesfield

Police have charged two men after a man was knocked down by a car.

The 19-year-old and 24-year-old, both from Macclesfield, were arrested on 20th May 2012 and charged the following day.

The 19-year-old was charged with aggravated vehicle taking, arson, driving a vehicle dangerously, failing to stop after an accident and using a car without insurance.

The 24-year-old was charged with aggravated vehicle taking and arson.

Both will appear at Macclesfield Magistrates Court on 21st May 2012.

At 12.39am on Sunday 20th May 2012, emergency services attended Carisbrooke Avenue, Macclesfield, following a collision between a car and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 39-year-old man from Northenden, was seriously injured.

As a result of the collision the pedestrian received leg and chest injuries and he was taken to Macclesfield General Hospital for emergency treatment where his condition is described as serious but stable.
