Euro 2012

I am glad to report that as a result of the increased patrols deployed on key match dates and the licensing visits to public houses throughout this period, we have not had to respond to any football public order related incidents. I would like to thank the licensees in the area for their support in relation to achieving this outcome.

Priorities for the month of July

  • Complaints from residents continue regarding the high number of vehicles failing to conform to the no entry signs at the junction of Woodford Lane and Quarry Bank Rise, Winsford. This has been evidenced by a Cheshire West and Chester survey. This issue will be targeted throughout July and anyone committing this offence will be liable to a £60 fine and 3 points on their driving licence.
  • On 27th June, I held my monthly Town Council meeting where speeding and parking issues on the High Street, Winsford, were highlighted as a concern. This area has been a problem in the past in particular near to the High Street traffic lights. There are also parking issues in relation to school traffic at key times on the High Street. Enforcement of parking restrictions and excess speed will be tackled this month.
  • Anti-social behaviour associated with a household on Crook Lane, Winsford, has been highlighted, evidence has been and continues to be gathered. This month we will be linking in with partner agencies to identify the best course of action to resolve this issue.
  • Increased patrols in the Knights Grange area will continue due to the seasonal problems that arise in this area due to young people gathering, some drinking alcohol, the use of mini moto’s, noise nuisance and general anti-social behaviour impacting on lives of local residents.

Be responsible

It’s important to know your limits when you’re drinking alcohol. We have to deal with a high number of alcohol-related incidents during the summer period; the majority of these incidents involve people who have drunk far too much. Whether you’re going for a night out on the town or you’re throwing a party at home, you need to be aware of how your actions affect others.

Please enjoy yourself, but take a responsible attitude to drink and be aware of the potential consequences of drinking too much. Already this summer we have received numerous calls regarding house party’s disturbing the neighbourhood. Think about your neighbours, you may be having a brilliant time, but they may not, be considerate, keep the noise down, think about inviting your neighbours along.

Know your limits and drink responsibly.

Regards,

Inspector Dave Snasdell
