Two men in Churton fatal aircraft collision named

Police have released the names of two men who were killed in a light aircraft crash in Churton in Chester.

At 8.55pm on Thursday 16th August Cheshire Police and other emergency services were called to the scene of a light aircraft carrying a pilot and passenger that had crashed in farmland near Churton, on the outskirts of Chester.

Sadly the two men onboard the aircraft, Karl Hendrickson, 43, from North Wales and a second man, John Green, 50, from Surrey, sustained fatal injuries.

The family of Mr Hendrickson said:

Karl was a loving husband and father. He worked at Airbus for 20 years.

Karl had a passion for aviation and will be missed by his wife, daughter, family and friends.

Flintshire Flying School have also paid tribute to the two men.

Friends and colleagues at Flintshire Flying School would like to send their sincere condolences to the friends and especially families of Karl Hendrickson and John Green at this sad time. John Green was a highly experienced and respected career instructor, and a valued member of our team. He is already greatly missed not only by ourselves, but also we are hearing, from his many past students.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch are investigating the circumstances. There were no other reported casualties.
