Family fun day on Westminster Estate, Ellesmere Port is a success

Ellesmere Port fun dayThe second of three family fun days in Ellesmere Port organised by Cheshire Police has been hailed as a success.

Around 250 people attended the local event at Hollymere Extra Care Development and adjacent field on Wednesday 14 August.

The event was run in conjunction with Alison Parry of Your Housing Group as well as some of the residents of Hollymere.

PC Sian Jones of Ellesmere Port Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "It was a great day supported by Councillor Pat Merrick as well as the local community, both young and old."

Families enjoyed numerous activities including:

  • Face painting by Lily
  • A bouncy castle supplied free by Airbounce Leisure
  • Live music and DJ Dave Bladen
  • Card making with Hollymere residents
  • Crafts from Plus Dane Housing
  • A smoothie bike from the Healthy Living Centre
  • Displays from the Parkour Collective
  • An appearance from Charlie the Clownfish of Blue Planet Aquarium
  • Free candy floss

The event was supported by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, TA at Fox Barracks and Ellesmere Port, I Travel Smart, Ellesmere Port Children's Centre, Our Place and Lisa and Jacqui from Westminster Families' Community Group who organised a raffle with the proceeds going towards local families.

Cheshire Police were on hand to support the community with crime prevention advice and ensure the smooth running of activities as well as handing out free padlocks provided by the local councillor to improve home security.

The remaining date will be held on Wednesday 28 August at Seacombe Park, Seacombe Drive (Sutton) from 2pm onwards.
