Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Matt Welsted

Matt began his career in Leicestershire in 1996 on uniformed foot patrol in the city centre.

In 2005 he transferred to Cheshire working in neighbourhood policing and custody before his first venture into organisational change.

In 2015 Matt was promoted to Superintendent and appointed as Cheshire’s Digital Policing Programme Director charged with leading on a variety of technology projects to modernise Cheshire Constabulary and deliver their ambitious vision for the future.

Matt took over as Chief Superintendent of local policing in July 2017 and was promoted to Acting Assistant Chief Constable in May 2019.
