Legislation has come in to effect banning so-called ‘zombie knives’.
Zombie knives are a relatively new type of knife, marketed in a way that may glamorise violence and emphasises the threat of violence through its name and the use of blood-like paint on its handle and blade. They are often seen as status symbols and young men have been known to pose with them in online videos to threaten and incite violence.
The legislation came into force on August 18, making the importation, manufacture, and sale of these weapons a criminal offence in England and Wales.
Incidents involving knives like these have been at a very low level in Cheshire, but the Constabulary continue to ensure that effective controls on the sale of knives are in place and young people are deterred from carrying knives.
