Duties include:

  • Assist in the production of referrals aimed at improving support provided to victims of incidents involving road death and serious injury.
  • Raise awareness of the external support organisations within the policing arena.
  • Monitor contact between external agencies and victims.
  • Potential involvement in engagement opportunities with the public.

Duties include:

  • Undertake visits to victims of crime, as directed by the Victim Care Unit Team Leader.
  • Advise and signpost service users to agencies or organisations who can help in their recovery.
  • Maintain face to face contact and support with service users using their preferred contact method, contact time and frequency of contact.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions with service users.
  • Be an advocate for Witness & Victim Care for the Constabulary.

Duties include:

  • Assist Crimestoppers and the Constabulary with data collection, data returns and maximising the value of the information received. 
  • Assist with inputting individuals details on to the Crimestoppers ‘Most Wanted’ site
  • Assist with compiling monthly returns to Crimestoppers.
  • Assist with the Divisional returns relating to positive action, arrest and charged.
  • Assist in identifying where potential Crimestoppers campaigns could be run.
  • Assist in identifying emerging trends by analysis of the Crimestoppers data.
  • Liaise with Neighbourhood Policing Units to promote Crimestoppers and coordinate the supply of posters and leaflets.
  • Attend Crimestoppers meetings if required.

Duties include:

  • To arrange visits with other Custody Visitors, in-line with agreed rota.
  • To keep the Panel Convenor and fellow custody visitors informed of any problems.
  • To undertake visits to a custody suite in accordance with the Custody Visitor Scheme guidance and training.
  • To check on the conditions in which people are detained in particular their health and wellbeing, and their rights and entitlements, with reference to Police and Criminal Evidence Act, Code C.
  • Where appropriate, consult the detainee’s custody record to clarify and check any concerns/issues raised by the detainee.
  • To discuss with the Custody Sergeant any concerns and requests arising from the custody visit, and bring to their attention any issues relating to a detainee’s welfare that need to be addressed immediately.
  • To complete a report form on the custody visit, ensuring that all relevant information relating to the detainees visited is recorded correctly, clearly and concisely.
  • To distribute copies of the report form to the appropriate people at the end of the visit.
  • To attend the Cheshire in-house training events and the Regional Custody Visitor conferences.
  • To attend Custody Visitor Panel meetings.
  • To carry out the duties of a Custody Visitor with regard to the Health and Safety requirements of the Custody Visiting Scheme.
  • Agree to abide by a Code of Conduct and sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

Duties include:

    • To undertake monthly impromptu visits independently to observe the police dogs and ensure that they have access to the five freedoms, during the Constabulary’s programmed training days held at various venues throughout the county.
    • To complete a report for the police dogs in attendance.
    • To inspect the police vehicles used to transport the police dogs throughout the county, to ensure that they are fit-for-purpose.
    • To report on each vehicle inspected.
    • To inspect the kennels located at the Constabulary’s Dogs Unit located at Lane End Farm, Winsford.
    • To report any issues relating to the welfare of the police dogs to the Police & Crime Commissioner.
    • To attend the training sessions and the annual meeting to review the operation of the Scheme.

Members of the band are uniformed volunteers who perform in public in traditional dress police uniform.

Duties include:

  • To promote/poster positive public relations through music at public engagements throughout Cheshire and beyond.
  • To support internal Force events (awards evening)

Applicants must have achieved Grade 5 standard or above in musicianship and be able to attend weekly rehearsals, usually held on a Monday evening between 7.30 and 9.30pm at police headquarters in Winsford. In addition to this, there are usually between 20 to 25 engagements a year which are held at various locations both here, and occasionally abroad.

  • Act as a critical friend and provide constructive feedback and recommendations for service improvement for victim services and criminal justice processes.
  • Work as part of a consultation forum to review Cheshire victim services and criminal justice agencies policies and practices from the point of view of a victim.
  • Assist agencies to secure and maintain victim confidence in the victim services and the criminal justice process.
  • Help the Commissioner and criminal justice agencies to ensure that victims’ services continually improve, are appropriate and meet victims’ needs.
  • Give advice and feedback from the point of view of a victim of crime.
  • Assist the Constabulary in meeting the ‘We’re here’ commitments particularly with respect to ‘Victims’ and ‘Justice’.

  • Update the Schools Liaison Database and ensure that relevant information is held.
  • Establish a contact link for each school to ensure engagement can take place.
  • Collate information from neighbourhood policing managers and partnership colleagues to enable a bulletin to be compiled.
  • Disseminate relevant information to schools regarding various issues as and when required.
  • Administer the Neighbourhood Alerts System to ensure that interested parties receive information.
