Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was assaulted in an attempted robbery in Crewe.
The 44-year-old from the town was assaulted by two men in Hungerford Avenue at around 11.30pm yesterday, Tuesday 25 June, after one of them had demanded cash from him.
The other man hit the victim with a crutch during the incident.
The victim sustained minor injuries. He was taken to hospital and has since been discharged after receiving treatment.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and as part of their investigation detectives are urging anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or anything else that may help their investigation, to get in touch.
They also want to hear from anyone who believes that they may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
Detective Sergeant Steven Smith, of Crewe Local Policing Unit, said: “Thankfully the victim only sustained minor injuries. The consequences of this incident could have been far worse.
“I would like to reassure residents that it is believed to have been an isolated incident and we are doing all that we can to establish who was responsible for the victim’s injuries and make them face the consequences of their actions.
“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information that may aid our investigation is asked to get in touch.
“The same goes for anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage that is relevant to this case.”

Two men from Macclesfield, aged 39 and 38, have been arrested in connection to the incident. They are currently in custody being questioned by officers.
