Appeal after vandals target Crewe cemetery Date published: 27th September 2017 10.33am

Officers are appealing for information from the public after vandals’ defaced Crewe Cemetery with racist graffiti.

Sometime during the evening of Tuesday 26 September unknown offenders sprayed offences graffiti on benches within the Garden of Remembrance area at Crewe Cemetery.

Officers have attended the scene and are working closely with the local authority to have the graffiti to be removed.

Inspector Penny Jones from Crewe Local Policing Unit said: “It’s despicable to see that vandals have stooped so low as to target a Garden of Remembrance and we are committed to doing everything we can to trace the people responsible.

“Hate crime, in any form, is not acceptable and will not be tolerated in our community. I urge anyone with any information in relation to the incident to contact the team here at Crewe.”

Enquiries in relation to the incident are currently ongoing and anyone with any information in relation to the graffiti is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 164 of 27/9/17
