Officers are appealing for information from the public after a village hall was trashed by vandals.

Sometime between Monday 7 August and 6.20pm on Wednesday 9 August unknown offenders forced entry into Darnhall Village Hall after breaking a rear door.

Once inside they caused a significant amount of damage to the premises; throwing paint and cleaning substances across the building and flooding the kitchen area.

Chief Inspector Simon Meegan said: “Darnhall Village hall is a valued community facility used by residents from across the local area, yet these unscrupulous offenders have taken it upon themselves to cause thousands of pounds worth of damage for no other reason than mindless vandalism.

“Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing and we are following a number of lines of enquiry, including forensic. As part of the investigation I am keen to hear from anyone who believes that they may have witnessed anything suspicious in the local area. I urge anyone with any information in relation to the incident to contact the team here at Northwich on 101 so that the offenders can be brought to justice.”
