Appeal following fatal Collision near Northwich Date published: 14th February 2017 10.32am

Officers are appealing for information following a fatal collision on the A556 near Northwich.

At approximately 6.15pm on Thursday 9 February officers were called to reports of a serious collision on the A556 near Northwich.

The collision, which involved blue Peugeot 307, a white BMW 1 series, a black Audi A5 and a blue Ford Focus, occurred on the Manchester bound carriageway near to Davenham Roundabout (between Hartford Road and Davenham Roundabout).

The driver of the Peugeot 307, a 78-year-old man from Swindon, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Leighton hospital, sadly he later passed away as a result of his injuries. Next of kin have been informed and they are currently being supported by specialist officers from Wiltshire Police.

Investigating Officer Sergeant Andrew Dennison said: “The A556 is a busy road and is one of the main routes between Chester and Manchester. As part of this investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of incident and believes that they may have witnessed the collision.”
