Appeal following suspicious incident in Runcorn Date published: 9th February 2017 5.11pm

Officers are appealing for information to help trace three men they would like to speak to following a suspicious incident in Runcorn.

At approximately 8.10pm on Wednesday 8 February a member of the public was on Holloway, Runcorn, when they witnessed a man wearing a navy parker jacket being approached by two men.

The two men appeared to threaten the victim and one of the men is believed to have produced what looked like black handgun and pointed it towards him.

After a short conversation between the group, the two men fled the scene, making off towards the steps on Balfour Street.

The man believed to be carrying the suspected firearm is described as having short hair and wearing a Black North Face Jacket with a scarf over his face. The other man was wearing dark clothing/tracksuit.

DC Allan Wolff said: “We take all incidents of this nature seriously and are doing all we can to trace the people involved so that we can establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“It has not yet been established if the weapon was real or imitation however understandably the witness has been left shaken.

“We’re currently following a number of lines of enquiry and I would like to appeal directly to the victim, and encourage him to come forward so that we can establish what has taken place.

“I’m also keen to speak to anyone who was in the Holloway area at the time the incident occurred and believes that they may have seen suspicious activity to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 784 of 8 February.”
