Appeal following theft from motor vehicle in Crewe Date published: 30th May 2017 12.40pm

Officers are urging witnesses to come forward following a theft from a vehicle on Badger Avenue in Crewe.

The incident took place on Monday 23 May, between 2.25-2.45pm.
The victim, a 72-year-old woman from the Hough area, was visiting a relative’s grave when she had her handbag stolen from her car.
The offender fled the scene when challenged by the woman.

The suspect is described as a man around 5” 8’ or 5” 9’ tall and of slim build. He was also wearing a brown baseball cap and a beige jacket.

PC Charlesworth said: “This was a heartless theft on a vulnerable elderly woman who has been left exceptionally shaken and upset by the incident. She was at the cemetery to pay her respects to a loved one and change the flowers on the grave – only to return to see somebody stealing her handbag from her vehicle.

“I want to trace the person responsible for this cold-hearted and malicious act. I would urge the public to come forward with any information they may have to help us with our investigation.”

Anyone with any information, which can assist officers with their enquiries, is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident 591 of 23 May.

Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
