Appeal for witnesses following a robbery in Widnes Date published: 28th February 2017 12.08pm

Officers are urging witnesses to come forward following a robbery in Widnes.

On Friday 24 February between 23:30 and 00:10 a 17-year-old man was walking while being followed by three to four men, along Bancroft Road onto Smythe Road. He then continued to be followed while walking along Norlands Road, to Halton View Lodge and onto Edward Street.

When reaching the junction between Edward Street and Castle Street the men, wearing hooded tops set upon him and punched the victim causing him to fall to the floor. The offenders then stamped on his face during which a quantity of cash was taken from his pocket.
The victim sustained serious injuries to his face.

Detective Constable Jordan Trentini, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “At this stage we are currently in the process of following a number of lines of enquiry.

“To help us with the investigation I would like to speak to anyone who was around the area at the time of the incident and urge them to contact us.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 15 of 25 February.
