Appeal for witnesses following a suspected arson in Warrington Date published: 30th March 2017 8.52am

Officers are urging witnesses to come forward following a suspected arson in Warrington.

At around 4pm on Tuesday, 7 March officers were made aware of a fire at the front of a house on Harbord Street.

Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service attended to extinguish the fire.

Detective Constable Emily Teare, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “We believe the offender has poured lighter fluid over the front door of the property before setting it alight and causing significant damage.

“It is only fortunate the woman who lived at the property wasn’t in at the time.

“I would appeal to anyone in the area who may have seen someone acting suspiciously around the time of the incident to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting 538 incident of 7 March.”

Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
