Appeal for witnesses following an assault in Warrington Date published: 27th February 2017 10.24am

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an assault took place in Warrington.

On the morning of Saturday 18 February between 10:15 and 10:45 two men were on Armour Avenue close to the junction with Densham Avenue when a man who was driving his van was flagged down.

The victim, aged 59, stopped his car and one of the offenders opened the door, punched the driver to the face before kicking the van door causing injury to his hand. The driver then drove away and went to hospital with minor injuries.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 582 of 18 February.
