Appeal for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Warrington Date published: 23rd January 2017 1.24pm

Officers are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a betting shop in Warrington.

At approximately 18:40 on Friday 20 January a man entered Betfred on Sandy Lane, produced what appeared to be a black handgun at two members of staff and demanded money from the till.

One of the staff members tells the offender the till is empty and the offender leaves the shop heading towards Gough Avenue.

The offender is described as being white, around 5ft 11 in height and believed to be in his early 20s. He was wearing all black clothing including gloves, trousers, shoes and a hooded coat. The offender also appeared to have dark hair.

The handgun he was carrying was not discharged and it has not yet been established if the gun was real or an imitation.
