Officers have released CCTV images to help trace two people in connection with a series of shoplifting offences.

Between Friday 6 January and Saturday 21 January a man and woman are believed to have stolen from a supermarket in a number of areas in Widnes.

The first theft is believed to have taken place between 19:40-19:45 on Friday 6 January on Liverpool Road at the Co-op where a bottle of alcohol was stolen.

On Wednesday 18 January at around 12:50 a man is believed to have entered the Co-op on Liverpool Road and taken two bottles of alcohol.

Between 18:30-18:45 on Saturday 21 January a man and woman entered the Co-op at Upton Rocks. While the man is thought to have distracted staff, the woman then stole nine bottles of alcohol worth up to £160.

The man is described as white, believed to be around 35-38-years-old, 5ft 3 in height and of a slim build with shaven grey hair. He also had a distinctive mark on his left cheek and was wearing a black North Face coat with a grey hoody underneath, grey joggers and black trainers.

The woman is described as white, aged between 28-30-years-old, around 5ft 2ins height, of a very slim build with straight brown hair. She was wearing a black coat with a fur trim hood, grey top and black skinny trousers and boots. The woman was also carrying a large leopard print shopper bag with pink handles.
