Detectives investigating two armed robberies in Runcorn are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The first robbery took place on Saturday 12 May between 4.50pm and 5pm along Busway when a 14-year-old boy was approached by another teenage boy who was holding a knife.

The offender took his bike and rode off in the direction of Windmill Hill Avenue.

The second robbery took place on Sunday 13 May between 3.15pm and 3.20pm near a canal bridge in Sandymoore. Four male teenagers, one armed with a knife, demanded the boy hand over his bike but he managed to get away.

Detectives believe the two incidents to be linked.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of two robberies and has been released under investigation.
