Detectives issue an appeal for witnesses to an assault in Runcorn Date published: 6th November 2017 9.56am

Detectives in Runcorn are appealing for the public’s help after a man was assaulted.

Between 7.15pm and 7.25pm on Tuesday, 31 October a 21-year-old man was walking along Mooring Close near to the boxing club when he saw a group of eight youths stood next to a wooden area – one was on a bike.

As the group saw the victim they walked towards him shouting insults. One of the youths, wearing a high-visibility jacket and trousers, walked behind the victim and pulled him to the ground and several others assaulted him. The group then walked away towards the wooden park off Gorsewood Road.

The victim went to Warrington General Hospital with minor injuries.

Detective Constable Suzanne Parker, of Runcorn CID, said: “This was a very nasty unprovoked attack and could have easily have led to more serious injuries. It also left the victim badly shaken.

“If you know who the offenders are please come forward and speak to an officer.”
