Man arrested following serious collision near Nothwich Date published: 19th June 2017 11.56am

Officers from Cheshire Road Policing team have arrested a man following a serious collision near Northwich.

At approximately 00.40am on Monday 19 June officers were called to reports of a collision on the A533, Moulton Bypass.

Officers attended the scene and found that the collision involved a Grey Seat Ibiza and a Black Mercedes HGV. The driver of Seat, a 50-year-old woman from Winsford, suffered life changing injuries; she was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital, where here condition is described as serious but stable.

The driver of the HGV, A 53-year-old man from Poland, was uninjured, he was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst above the drink drive limit; he is currently in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

As a result of the incident the A533 was closed in both directions between the junctions of Peckmill roundabout and Road One roundabout whilst officers dealt with the collision; the road re-opened at approximately 4.30am.
