Officers release CCTV image of man they would like to speak to in connection with theft and assault in Birchwood Date published: 1st June 2017 12.35pm

Officers have released a photo of a man they would like to speak to in-connection with a theft and assault at a store in Birchwood, Warrington.

At 13:30 on Thursday, 18 May, a man was in Argos on Dewhurst Road when an off-duty police officer witnessed him steal a mobile phone.

The officer identified himself as police when the man was running out of the store and the offender collided with him resulting in him sustaining minor injuries. The suspect then ran from the store and across the car park.

The offender is described as being white, around 5”8 in height of a stocky build and with cropped or short hair with a round face. He was wearing sunglasses and was wearing a dark coloured top and dark coloured shorts.

Anyone who may know the identity of the man or have any information to help officers with their enquiries is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 439 of 18 May.
