Police appeal for information following a distraction burglary in Great Sankey Date published: 13th November 2017 1.43pm

Police in Great Sankey are appealing for information following a distraction burglary.

At around 8.30pm on 4 November two men entered an address near St Marys Road. The occupant, an elderly woman, confronted them in her living room. The two men said they were from the Fire Service and said there was a fire at the back of her property.

The men then went on to steal cash and a bank card before fleeing the scene. The men are described as white, with one being of larger build than the other. Both are in their 40s and spoke with local accents .

DC Vicky Goodwin said: “The lady repeatedly asked for identification but one of the men kept her talking while the other made a search of the property. Taking advantage of a vulnerable woman was a callous act.  I hope that if someone remembers seeing suspicious activity in the area around this time they will phone police on 101 to help us find those responsible.”

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 961 of 4 November 2017.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
