Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted armed robbery in Warrington.

At 9.45pm on Monday 13 March 2017 a man armed with a large knife entered Thoroughgoods in Myddleton Lane , Winwick and demanded the till was opened.

The shop assistant refused and forced the suspect out of the store by throwing bottles of alcohol at him.

The suspect then ran off to a waiting car which was parked further down Myddleton Lane.

The offender is described as white, approximately 35-years-old, and 6ft tall. He had his face covered and was wearing a black Nike bobble hat, and a dark or navy Berghaus jacket.
