The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is today publishing guidance in relation to the handling of public complaints where allegations of discrimination are made.
They have highlighted how it is crucial for public confidence in the police and the police complaints system that allegations of discrimination are handled properly.
Fairness is a core principle underpinning the concept of policing by consent and unfair or unlawful discrimination fundamentally undermine this principle.
Cheshire Constabulary is committed to handling complaints effectively and the Constabulary will continue to work with the IPCC and the guidelines to ensure public complaints are investigated in a fair, transparent and proportionate manner. A copy of the document can be accessed here.
