Appeal following serious assault in Crewe Date published: 27th October 2016 12.10pm

Crewe CID are appealing for information from the pubic after a man was seriously assaulted in the Coppenhall area.

Shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday 20 October the victim, a 57-year-old local man, was walking along Middlewich Street, Crewe, near to the Cooperative Funeral Care, when he was approached by four young men.

The men, who are all believed to be juveniles, began to assault the victim, causing serious injuries which required hospital treatment; the youths then left the scene.

One of the suspects is described as white, approximately 14 years-old, approximately 5’6”, wearing a black coat, clean shaven with short dark hair and clean shaven. The other suspects are all described as being as being juveniles.

Following the incident the victim was taken to Leighton Hospital with injuries to his face and arm, he has since been discharged.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Louise Crosbie said: “Middlewich Road is a busy road and I believe that there could be residents who were in the area at the time this incident occurred who could hold vital information.

“This was a serious incident and I’d urge anyone with any information in relation to the assault to contact the team here at Crewe so the offenders can be brought to justice.”
