Appeal for witnesses as murder investigation is launched in Widnes Date published: 16th March 2016 12.59pm

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in the Widnes area.

Officers were called to a disturbance in Brinton Close between 10pm and 11pm on Sunday, March 13. The victim, a 35-year-old man from the Manchester area, appeared to have suffered a blow to the head and was admitted to hospital for treatment. He sadly passed away this morning (Wednesday, March 16).

Detectives have now launched a murder investigation. A 39-year-old local man has been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries, but they would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything before, during, or after the incident in the vicinity of Brinton Close.
