Closure order granted at a property in Ditton, Widnes Date published: 26th January 2017 3.48pm

Today, (Thursday 26 January) Cheshire Constabulary implemented a closure order under the Crime and Policing Act 2014 at an address at 34 Levens Way in Ditton, Widnes.

The order was made after officers received numerous reports over recent months of criminal offences including drug dealing and anti-social behaviour. These incidents can be directly attributed to the activities at this address which have had a significant impact on the local community.

The property was being solely rented by a woman aged 53-years-old who has found other accommodation.

The tenants must now leave the property and all windows and doors will be boarded up for a period of at least 3 months. Anyone who enters the house during that time is committing an offence and can be arrested.

Sergeant Leeroy Moss, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “We have listened to residents’ concerns about the anti-social behaviour being committed by people connected to this address. We have taken positive action on their behalf and I now hope all the residents can live peacefully in their homes. We will always seek to take action and use police powers where there is evidence of drug activity and anti-social behaviour.

“The closure order has been imposed for three months and anyone found breaching the closure order will be prosecuted.

“I would also encourage local residents to report any concerns to Cheshire Police in confidence or Crimestoppers anonymously.”
