“The Constabulary is making good progress on tackling an issue important to Widnes and Runcorn residents”

Police & Crime Commissioner David Keane is responding to an update from Cheshire police on Operation Scrambler; which targets the illegal and anti-social use of mini-motos and off-road bikes in Widnes and Runcorn.

“Since coming into office the problem of illegal off-road bikes has been raised with me by a local residents and Councillors. This issue really matters to these community and is something that I have raised with the Chief Constable. I am pleased to see the focus the local policing units have given to the matter – it is starting to deliver results for the public.”

“Whilst operational policing is outside of my remit, I will continue to discuss this matter with Chief Constable Simon Byrne to ensure it maintains a high profile and work with other Commissioners across the region to explore where there are opportunities to work together on tackling the issue.”

“The results to date could not have been achieved without the support of the public. The information and intelligence that you are providing is making a difference. I urge the public to continue”
