Cordon lifted following incident in Widnes Date published: 13th August 2015 11.46am

Advice to stay indoors and keep windows and doors shut following a chemical incident in Widnes has been lifted.

Emergency services have worked throughout today to deal with the incident on Pickering Road. Releases of chlorine gas were confirmed, but were confined to the surface water drainage system.

Firefighters have now flushed the drains and investigations have revealed that there is no longer any trace of product. There is no longer considered to be any risk to the public’s health and all previous advice and cordons have been lifted.
