Emergency services remain at the scene of an incident at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

Shortly before 2pm today Cheshire Police received reports of a plane having crashed in a wooded area near to the Car Fest event at Oulton Park.

The plane was performing at the event at the time of the incident.  Sadly, the pilot of the plane has died at the scene.  There are no reports of any other injuries.

Emergency services remain at the scene and Coach Road remains closed.  Officers are currently liaising with all those involved to try and establish the circumstances of what has happened.

Superintendent Beverly Raistrick said:  “We are working alongside the other emergency services and the organisers of the event to manage the scene and to try and establish the circumstances of what has happened.  The area around the scene has been cordoned off and officers will remain there.  The event is continuing over the weekend.  Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the incident.

“The Air Accident Investigation Branch has been informed and they are en route to the scene.”
