A third teenager has been arrested in connection with an incident at a college in Widnes.
The 17-year-old was arrested late this afternoon and is currently in custody.
Two other teenagers (both aged 17), who were arrested on Wednesday 7 December, remain in custody where they are continuing to help police with their enquiries.
At 1.45pm on Wednesday 7 December police received reports of a disturbance at Riverside College in Kingsway.
Officers swiftly attended the scene to find a 17-year-old boy with serious injuries. He was taken to Aintree Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Chief Inspector Richard Rees said: “I would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident. The investigation is continuing and enquiries are ongoing. If anyone has any concerns regarding the incident or any information, which could assist with our enquiries, they are urged to speak to a local officer or call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 473 of 7 December.”
