M6 Vehicle Fire – Update Date published: 10th January 2017 10.46am

Three lanes of the M6 northbound in Cheshire has now reopened following a vehicle fire earlier today.

The fire between junctions 20 and 21 was reported at approximately 7.10am today, Tuesday 10 January, and involved a HGV.

Police, Fire and Highways officers remain at the scene at the current time and lanes 2, 3 and 4 have now been reopened on the northbound carriageway. The westbound link road from the M56 to the M6 northbound remains closed at the current time.

As a result of the fire part of the carriageway may need to be resurfaced; further details will be released when available.

Delays remain on the road network across Cheshire and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
