On 1 September at 5.35pm Cheshire Police responded to reports of a theft of a bicycle from Wheelock Street, Middlewich.
Officers attended the address, and subsequently caught and arrested a 17 year old male. During the arrest two police officers were assaulted and received facial injuries.
Superintendent Bill Dutton said: “We take incidents of police officer assault seriously, and want to re-iterate that if any of our officers are assaulted the offenders will be dealt with through the criminal justice process, as they would with any other type of assault.”
The male was arrested and subsequently charged with the theft of a pedal cycle, two assaults on the police officers and criminal damage. He is due to appear at South Cheshire Magistrates Court on 3 September 2015.
