Chief Constable Simon Byrne, said: “Everyone at Cheshire Constabulary is deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the horrific attacks which took place in London on Saturday night.

“All of our thoughts are with those who have been affected by this tragedy and I have nothing but admiration for the emergency services who responded to such an awful attack.

“It is a sad reflection of the times we live in that once again I speak about such terrible crimes, however I want to reassure you all that we are doing everything in our power to ensure nothing like this occurs here in Cheshire and we will continue to work closely with our communities.

“I urge everybody to stay alert, be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour to the Anti-Terror hotline on 0800 789321 or in an emergency call 999.

“We stand united with our colleagues across the country in continuing to prevent and combat these acts of terror; we will not let this evil win.”
