Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Crewe in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, 2 November).
The incident occurred at around 3.15am on Nantwich Road, near the junction with Mill Street. The victim, a 32-year-old man, sustained serious head injuries and is in a critical condition in hospital.
A 55-year-old man has been arrested, and is helping officers with their enquiries.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Sarah Oliver, said: “’The exact circumstances of what led to this incident are under investigation, which is in its very early stages, but I would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident and we will be doing everything that we can to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.
“I would appeal to any person who may have witnessed what happened, or has any information which could assist is with our enquiries to get in touch immediately.”
