A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in Macclesfield.
Shortly before 9pm on Friday 20 December police were called to an assault at an address on Brocklehurst Way in Macclesfield.
A 62-year-old man was taken to Macclesfield District General Hospital where he sadly died.
On Saturday 21 December a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to police custody. He has since been detained under the Mental Health Act.
Detective Inspector Kate Tomlinson, from Cheshire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “While we have arrested a man in connection with this incident the investigation remains ongoing and I encourage anyone who has information to get in touch.
