Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an assault in Warrington.
A 41-year-old man, from Widnes, was attacked at Abba taxi rank on Crown Street in Bewsey and Whitecross.
He had been waiting in a queue when an altercation occurred with a group of men and women who he believed had been pushing in.
One of the men punched him a number of times causing him to fall to the floor.
He was then assaulted again.
The victim attended to Warrington Hospital with serious injuries to his leg and face and has since been released.
The assault occurred at around 4.20am on Saturday 30 October.
Detectives have been conducting numerous enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage and appealing to anyone with information to get in touch.
Detective Constable Darren Gibson, from Warrington CID, said: “Since the assault took place we have been following a number of enquiries including looking at CCTV footage.
“That has led to identifying a man we believe has information that could assist with our investigation.
“If you recognise him or have information about the assault please get in touch.
“I also want to appeal directly to him to contact us.
“A number of people were either in the queue or nearby at the time the assault occurred. If you saw it take place and not yet spoken to an officer please come forward.”
