Police in Chester are investigating the theft of cash from a man in his 70s in the city centre.
At around 3.45pm on Friday 3 December the man, using a walking stick, left Barclays Bank St Werburgh Street Chester with an envelope of cash and carrying an orange shopping bag for life.
As he did so, he was approached by a woman who offered her assistance to him outside the bank as he was unsteady on his feet.
When he went to get the envelope later on, he discovered the envelope, and the cash, had gone.
The woman is described as white, with blonde hair and a slight build. She was wearing a light coloured or yellow coat.
PC Martin Redhead said:
“Obviously this has left the victim distressed by what has happened. We’re keen to speak to this woman to establish what took place and would urge her to get in touch with us as she may have vital information that may help. We are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious activity that could help us establish the circumstances.”
