Detectives are appealing for information after a man was found with serious injuries Runcorn.
At around 11.45pm on Sunday 2 January a 68-year-old local man was found collapsed on Meadow Row.
The man had sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.
Following the incident, officers have conducted a number of enquiries to establish what took place and they are now appealing for information from the public.
Detective Constable Chris Tyrer said: “We understand that this incident may cause some concern but I would like to reassure people that we are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of what happened.
“From the enquiries we have conducted so far we’ve been able to establish that the man had been drinking at the Norton Arms on Main Street that night and left the premises at around 10.45pm.
“However, the man has no recollection of what happened after that point and does not know how he sustained the injuries.
“As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the Meadow Row area between 11pm and 11.45pm and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious.
“The same goes to anyone who may have dashcam footage from driving past the area.”
