Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a serious assault in Runcorn.
At around 9.50am on Thursday 20 October police were called to reports of an incident on Halton Road, Runcorn.
Officers attended the scene and found that a 42-year-old local man had been seriously assaulted.
The man was taken to Whiston hospital where it was found he had sustained a slash wound to his arm: he has since been discharged.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault in connection with the incident, he has since been released on conditional bail.
Detective Constable Matt Furlong, of Runcorn local policing unit, said: “I would like to reassure residents that this was an isolated incident and we are doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.
“One man was arrested following the incident and he has since been released on conditional bail, while we progress our investigation.
“As part of our ongoing enquiries we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the disturbance.
“The same goes for anyone with any video footage of the incident.
“I’d urge anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire police at www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, or on 101, quoting IML 1392889.”
