At around 2.30am on Sunday 22 May a 61-year-old man was found with serious injuries on High Street.
He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening.
Officers are conducting a number of enquiries on High Street and the surrounding areas.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Murray said: “We understand that this incident will cause some concern but I want to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to piece together what has happened to the man.
“There are several enquiries ongoing and people will see an increased presence in the town centre. I would urge anyone who may have any concerns to please speak to an officer.
“As part of these enquiries, we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the High Street area in the early hours of Sunday morning and believes that they may have seen something that didn’t look quite right.
“The same goes to anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area in the early hours of the morning.
“Any information that anyone has, no matter how big or small they feel it may be, please get in touch with us and we will do the rest.”
