Officers are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Widnes.
Between 9.10pm and 9.30pm on Wednesday 8 June, a 13-year-old boy was waiting for a friend when he was approached by two boys near the Avondale Drive area.
The pair then started to attack and strike him multiple times, and also attempted to take his phone.
When his friend arrived, the offenders fled the scene.
The boy sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident.
There have been two arrests made which have since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
Officers are now appealing to members of the public for more information.
PC Alex Lloyd, from Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “The victim has understandably been left shaken by the ordeal.
“I want to reassure the community that we are working hard to make sure those responsible are identified and caught.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and as part of this we are asking anyone with any information, no matter how small it may be, to come forward.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage which may help our investigation.”
Anyone who has information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary on our website or via 101 quoting IML 1288451.
Information can also be provided by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
