Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage after a man was seriously assaulted in Widnes.
At around 1.30am on Friday 29 September, police were called to reports that a man had sustained serious injuries at an address on Cherry Sutton, Widnes.
On arrival, officers found that a 40-year-old man had suffered a stab injury; he was taken to the Aintree Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Two men, aged 41 and 35, have been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of section 18 assault.
Both suspects have since been released on bail.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident, with officers appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Paul Munnerley, who is leading the investigation, said: "As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any video footage.
“I’d urge anyone who witnessed this attack but has not yet spoken to police to contact us.
"Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 1656050."
