Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage following an arson attack in Warrington.
At around 7.50pm on Tuesday 18 April emergency services were called to reports of a fire at an address on Sharp Street.
Firefighters attended the scene and on arrival they found that a box had been deliberately set alight at the front of the property, which had spread to the front door of the address.
Thankfully there were no reports of any injuries, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
An investigation into the incident has been launched and detectives are keen to hear from anyone with any information which may aid their enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Victoria Tait, of Warrington CID, said: “The consequences of this incident could have been far worse, and we are committed to doing all we can to identify the person responsible.
“The firefighter’s investigation has revealed at that a box was left outside the address and deliberately set alight, and we believe that this may have been seen or heard by local residents at the time.
“I would ask anyone who may know those who are responsible or may have seen anything to get in touch.
“The same goes to anyone in the Sharp Street area around the time of the incident who may have caught CCTV or dashcam footage of the offenders.”
Anyone with any information or footage that may be able to help with the investigation is asked to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 quoting IML 1527281 or give the information via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us .
Information can also be passed on to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or report it via https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously .
