Officers investigating a robbery in Widnes are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage to come forward.
On Thursday 11 July, police were called to reports of an incident at a bus stop on Widnes Road, near the Asda supermarket.
The caller described that at around 4.37pm, he was approached by a man who proceeded to assault him and stole his phone.
Following enquiries, a 33-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He has since been released on conditional bail.
An investigation is currently ongoing and police would like any witnesses or footage of the incident which could aid enquiries to contact them.
Detective Constable Faye Nowell, of CID Reactive North, said:
“Enquiries in relation to this incident are in the early stages and we are doing all we can to identify the people responsible.
“This would have been a busy time of day outside of a busy location so, as part of our investigation, I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious.
“I’d also ask anyone who was driving through the area at the time of the incident to check their dashcam footage to see if they have anything which may aid our investigation."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101, or visit the website, quoting IML-1868270.
