Officers attended the scene on Wrexham Road, Chester, and found that a collision had occurred between a grey Nissan Qashqai and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, an 11-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to Alder Hey hospital for further treatment. His injuries are thought to be life-threatening.
The driver of the Nissan, a 28-year-old woman from Wrexham, was not injured during the incident.
