Detectives investigating an altercation at a pub in Winsford have arrested a man in relation to the incident.
Shortly after 12am on Tuesday 25 June police were called to reports of an incident at the Queens Arms on Dene Drive, Winsford.
Officers attended the scene and found there had been an altercation between a group of unknown men.
During the incident an 82-year-old local man had sustained a wound to his head. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home.
A CCTV appeal in relation to the incident was released following the incident and a man has since been arrested after coming forward to police.
The 40-year-old man from the Winsford area, was arrested at Northwich Police Station on Wednesday 26 June on suspicion of affray. He has since been released under investigation.
Enquiries to identify a second man remain ongoing as officers believe that he may be able to aid the investigation.
