Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault at an address in Widnes.
The incident occurred around 5.30am on 2 February at a flat on Childlow Close. At some point a man intervened and helped the female victim.
As part of our investigation a 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of domestic assault and has since been released on conditional bail.
PC Amy Jones said:
“I’d urge the man who intervened to contact us to help us with our investigation, likewise anyone who may know who this man, please contact us so we can progress with our enquiries.
“This male has assisted a vulnerable assault victim and may be worried about being in trouble - however, we can confirm that we just want to speak to them as a witness. He may have vital information which could help us with our investigation.”
Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 2018752.
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
